Around The Community

An active community, residents enjoy gardening, walking the neighborhood, biking the adjacent greenway, and getting together for community events.  A welcoming community of people of diverse ages and backgrounds, Radbourne attracts people who work in the nearby university and hospital, or in business centers located off WT Harris.

The Homeowners Association holds regular events, including family-oriented holiday celebrations and summer “flick and float” nights.  Residents also take trips to Carolina Panthers games.

While Radbourne is a quiet, secluded neighborhood, it is located within the vibrant University City area of Charlotte.  Among the great services and venues in the area are:

Greenways and Parks

University City contains many green spaces for walking and biking.  Twelve miles of greenways link Radbourne and other neighborhoods to UNC Charlotte and University Research Park. UNC Charlotte’s botanical gardens and greenhouse showcase rhododendron, azaleas and other Carolinas flora.

The Keith Family YMCA

located just east of Radbourne, is a full-service YMCA with a fitness center, indoor pool, outdoor water park, and community programming facilities.

PNC Music Pavilion

is an outdoor music venue, featuring rock and country music bands.  Originally called Blockbuster Pavilion, the venue has a large capacity of nearly 19,000 making it the perfect place for summertime concerts.

Reedy Creek Nature Center and Preserve

is an 850-acre oasis that includes athletic fields, playgrounds, fishing ponds, and a competition-level disc golf course. Ten miles of forest trails and a nature center offer programs and camps

University City Regional Library

is the busiest branch in our county’s nationally recognized library system. The heavily used library offers a full range of services, from toddler story-time to a research area that houses special collections ranging from medical materials to an exhaustive database of grant-funding sources. The library often hosts community meetings, too.

Charlotte Motor Speedway

is the home of NASCAR.  Races and other family-oriented events are held year-round.

UNC Charlotte

is a major public university.  If you like college athletics, you’ll love cheering the 49ers men’s and women’s NCAA teams. Several are nationally ranked.  UNC Charlotte presents art exhibitions, and music, dance, and theater performances by students, faculty and visiting artists.  The university’s main venue, Belk Theater in Robinson Hall, provides impressive acoustics and excellent seating. Explore upcoming performances and exhibitions.  Yearly, UNC Charlotte presents an International Festival featuring music, dance, and food from all over the world.

The Shoppes at University Place

features a wonderful area of restaurants, shops, and recreation areas.  Located around man-made lakes, the area includes walking paths and, in the summer, paddle boats.  The area hosts events like the University City Wine Fest and outdoor concerts.

University City Partners

is a great organization working to develop businesses and community events in the area.
